U.S. President Donald Trump is discussing a possible military operation to extract approximately 450 kg of highly enriched uranium from Iranian territory. This was reported by sources of The Wall Street Journal.
According to sources, such a mission would be complex and dangerous, and could require U.S. troops to remain on Iranian territory for several days. This would significantly increase the risk to the soldiers.
A final decision has not been made yet, but Trump is not rejecting the idea and sees it as an important step in preventing Iran from creating nuclear weapons.
At the same time, he has tasked his advisors with exploring the possibility of pressuring Tehran to force it to hand over the uranium through an agreement.
Officials from the White House and the Pentagon, however, are refraining from providing specific comments on the matter.
