President Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the official opening ceremony of the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan and in an iftar. The event connected orphans, scholars, theologians, and public representatives from the regions via studio links. Also in attendance were members of various nationalities and religious confessions, the diplomatic corps, and representatives of international organizations.
The head of state congratulated those gathered on the blessed month of Ramadan and expressed gratitude for the blessings of peace and health. It was noted that during this month, the work of providing assistance to socially vulnerable segments of the population has expanded widely, with charitable deeds being carried out by state and non-governmental organizations, charitable foundations, and entrepreneurs.
The ceremony emphasized that the opening of the Islamic Civilization Center is a significant historical event in the life of the country. The President stated that this complex is a major educational center showcasing the rich history, culture, and scientific heritage of our homeland.
It is noted that the center's territory covers nearly 10 hectares, and the total area of the buildings is 50,000 square meters. It houses expositions dedicated to various eras, including halls devoted to the pre-Islamic period, the First and Second Renaissance, and the development of New Uzbekistan.
Furthermore, the center houses one of the oldest copies of the Holy Quran in the world—the Uthman Mus'haf. Thousands of rare manuscripts and historical artifacts have been collected to enrich the exposition.
The head of state emphasized that this center will be an important spiritual space that encourages youth towards enlightenment and strengthens national pride in the future. At the end of the event, Quranic verses were recited, and prayers were offered for the peace of the country and the prosperity of the people.
