In Afghanistan, unexploded ordnance and ammunition left over from armed conflicts in previous years continue to pose a serious threat to the lives of civilians, reports "zamon.uz".

Several explosions in Afghanistan's Kunar province resulted in the deaths of two civilians and left eight others with varying degrees of bodily injuries.

According to local sources, tragic incidents were recorded in the Nur-Gul and Asmar districts. Specifically, in the Nur-Gul district, a child was killed by the explosion of an improvised explosive device in one of the residential areas. Another explosion occurred in the Asmar district, resulting in the death of a woman.

According to the provincial police, the injured were promptly taken to medical facilities, and the condition of some victims remains critical.

It is emphasized that residential areas in the region are filled with hidden explosive devices as a result of armed clashes that lasted for decades. According to recent UNICEF reports, an average of 55 people are killed each month in Afghanistan by explosive remnants of war. Children constitute nearly 85 percent of the victims.

Furthermore, the situation is becoming more complicated against the backdrop of a general sharp deterioration in security in the provinces. For instance, it was reported this week that four more individuals were killed in armed clashes related to gold mining in Takhar province.
