Italy has announced that it is ready to deploy its naval forces to ensure the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. This was stated by Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani during a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio in Rome.
The minister noted that Italy is considering this decision in light of the current tense geopolitical situation. However, the dispatch of military ships to the Strait of Hormuz may take place after the conflict between the U.S. and Iran has ended.
Tajani also emphasized that Rome supports all initiatives aimed at a ceasefire and ensuring stability in the Middle East.
“Italy is in favor of continuing dialogue and diplomatic solutions,” he said.
