In 2018, the construction of a railway from Urganch to Khiva and the launch of passenger train services created convenience for our people and tourists visiting the ancient city. Additionally, as a result of the construction and commissioning of the Shovot - Gurlan - Qipchoq railway, the distance for transporting cargo from Russia and Kazakhstan was reduced by 240 kilometers, and the transportation time was cut by 6 hours. The project to electrify the Bukhara – Urganch – Khiva railway was successfully completed. The Hazorasp railway station was put into operation. Recently, 10 new modern carriages produced in Uzbekistan were added to the Tashkent-Urganch-Khiva route. Construction of a new electrified railway line, 11 km long, from Urganch International Airport to Urganch Railway Station has begun.

Today, on May 5, 2026, the Jaloliddin Manguberdi high-speed train made its first journey on the Tashkent-Khiva route. This modern train, manufactured by South Korea’s Hyundai Rotem company, is equipped with all conveniences for passengers. While regular trains take 14 hours to travel from Tashkent to Khiva, the new high-speed train covers this distance in 7 hours and 30 minutes, reducing travel time by nearly half. The Jaloliddin Manguberdi train was ceremonially welcomed at Khiva Railway Station with the participation of a wide range of public representatives.
