The document was adopted in the first reading on May 5 by deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.

According to the draft, working men in Uzbekistan may be entitled to short-term paid leave upon the birth of a child. This initiative is being put forward to assist newborns and mothers within the family, as well as to ease family responsibilities.

According to data, discussions within the faction of the "Milliy Tiklanish" party noted that the new procedure would allow working fathers to take paid leave of up to 5 days after the birth of a child. This leave can be taken within one month.

Deputy Nodir Tilavoldiev stated that this norm would serve to strengthen the family support system.

The draft law envisages not only social measures but also a number of changes aimed at regulating the labor market. In particular, it plans to reduce informal employment and strengthen liability for employers who delay wages.

Additionally, special attention is being paid to digitizing hiring processes. Under the new procedure, the practice of requiring numerous documents will be reduced, and basic information can be verified through a personal identification number. Electronic signatures and biometric identification will also be accepted as documents with equal legal force.

The draft law also introduces new norms to combat pressure and violence in the workplace and to protect employees.
