Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates are assisting the United States in military operations against Iran and are considering the possibility of directly involving their own forces in an armed conflict, reports Zamon.uz publication, citing The Wall Street Journal.
It is reported that currently, both states are assisting the U.S. by permitting the use of military infrastructure and exerting economic pressure on Tehran. At the same time, these states are also discussing the issue of using military force.
The Wall Street Journal adds that Saudi Arabia has granted U.S. forces permission to use the King Fahd Air Base located in the west of the Arabian Peninsula.
According to the publication's sources, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is currently considering the country's direct participation in military operations. Another source indicated that Saudi Arabia's entry into the war is "a matter of time."
Last week, Saudi Arabia's Foreign Minister stated that Saudi Arabia's patience with Iranian attacks is not unlimited, and that if necessary, countries in the region can stand against Iran.
"The UAE is currently limiting itself to only economic measures. For example, the emirates have threatened to freeze billions of dollars worth of Iranian assets and have already closed Iranian institutions in Dubai. The possibility of direct participation in the war is not being completely ruled out in the UAE at the moment," the report states.
