A video showing the collapse of an amusement ride at the Surajkund fair in Faridabad city in northern India has appeared on the internet.
The footage shows the "Tsunami" ride collapsing directly onto visitors at the fair after one of the structure's support pillars gave way while it was fully operational.
According to the India Today publication, the incident occurred at approximately 6:15 PM local time. The injured were taken to the hospital. A police inspector was hit in the face by a part of the ride while trying to rescue people. As a result, he died. 13 people were injured.
A criminal case has been initiated against the ride operator.
District administration officials reached the site quickly. The area was cordoned off to prevent further incidents.
