Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced the introduction of the vice president position in the country during his speech at the National Kurultai on January 20. This was reported by "Nur Kazakhstan".
According to the head of state, the vice president will be appointed by the president with the consent of the parliament. The new position holder is expected to represent Kazakhstan's interests at international forums and in negotiations with foreign delegations on the president's instructions, defend the president's position in parliament, and cooperate with local and joint socio-political, scientific, cultural, and educational organizations.
Additionally, the vice president will carry out other tasks assigned by the head of state.
According to the president, these rules regarding the vice president's official powers must be reflected in the country's Constitution.
In connection with the introduction of the new position, a number of changes in the management system are also planned. In particular, the position of state advisor will be abolished, and it is also planned to reduce some apparatus structures supporting parliamentary activity.
