In Uzbekistan, work-related accidents and resulting fatalities in the construction sector have sharply increased. This was reported by the Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment.

In 2024, 204 accidents related to the sector were recorded, resulting in the deaths of 71 workers.

The situation has worsened further in 2025. Over the past year, 234 accidents occurred in the construction sector, leading to the deaths of 99 workers. Thus, the highest number of work-related fatalities has been recorded precisely in the construction sector.

According to the Ministry's emphasis, the majority of tragic incidents are linked to non-compliance with occupational safety rules, insufficient provision of personal protective equipment for workers, and weaknesses in control mechanisms.

Officials note that a negligent attitude towards occupational safety poses a serious threat to human life and remind that these requirements are not just for reporting, but are essential for preserving real lives.
