SpaceX founder Elon Musk announced at a meeting with xAI employees that there is an intention to build a factory for producing artificial satellites on the Moon and an electromagnetic system to launch them into space.
According to his words, in the future, it will be possible to deliver large volumes of cargo to the Moon with the help of Starship, and artificial satellites will be produced using local resources. Afterwards, they will be launched into orbit via a special electromagnetic catapult.
In Musk's opinion, this method could become one of the cheapest ways to provide the necessary computing power for artificial intelligence. Furthermore, NASA and SpaceX are also developing plans to create a permanent base on the Moon.
