Since January 17, the ongoing forest fires in Chile have intensified particularly in the Ñuble and Biobío regions.
According to local media and Reuters, the fires have so far covered an area of more than 8.5 thousand hectares. At least 250 homes have been destroyed due to the natural disaster.
The country's President, Gabriel Boric, announced that a state of catastrophe has been declared in these areas. Officials report that strong winds and high temperatures are causing the fires to spread rapidly.
