Based on reports on social media, the regional representative of the Authorized Person of the Oliy Majlis for Human Rights (Ombudsman) in Navoi region conducted a monitoring visit to Penal Colony No. 5 in the region.
During the visit, the health and detention conditions of convict A.T. (Mubashshir Ahmad), who is serving his sentence in this colony, were studied.
During the monitoring, conversations were held with the convicts, including convict A.T., in a confidential manner, and his medical documents were reviewed.
A.T. noted that he had no complaints about the provision of medical care at the institution, that he regularly undergoes full medical examinations, that there are only some changes in his health due to his pre-existing illnesses, and that he is receiving appropriate medical care.
He also mentioned that he is engaged in labor voluntarily at the institution (he is involved in kitchen work), that he is not subjected to excessive labor beyond the times established by law, and that the working conditions comply with labor protection rules.
"He also did not complain about food supply and living conditions. According to his words, food is provided according to the established norm, taking into account his health. During the confidential conversation with convict A.T., he did not appeal on any issue,"— the report states.
