On December 29, the Parliament of Kazakhstan ratified an intergovernmental agreement on leasing land plots located in the Issyk-Kul region of the Kyrgyz Republic for a period of 49 years. This was reported by "Sputnik Kz".

According to the agreement, the Kazakh side received the right to temporarily use several land areas in the Issyk-Kul territory. These areas are not empty—they contain a sanatorium, two holiday homes, and a sports and recreation center, which were built during the period of the Kazakh SSR.

The document approved by the parliament grants Kazakhstan the right to own four resort and recreation facilities. Furthermore, the Kazakh side has undertaken the obligation to bring these facilities up to the standard of 3 and 4-star hotels by the end of 2029.
