The EU approved the 20th sanctions package against Russia.

The European Union adopted the 20th sanctions package against Russia. Under the new restrictions, 17 individuals and legal entities were added to the sanctions list.

According to the official website of the EU, the decision was approved by the foreign ministers of the member states on December 15. These sanctions are primarily directed against Russia's "shadow fleet" and its information operations on the internet. For the first time, a U.S. citizen was also included in the list.

In particular, Andrey Sushentsov, Dean of the Faculty of International Relations at MGIMO, a number of individuals associated with the "Valdai" Club, Russian and foreign experts, as well as Ukrainian journalist Diana Panchenko and American John Mark Dugan, who acquired Russian citizenship, were placed under sanctions.

In addition, restrictions were also imposed against three officers of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Russian Armed Forces, as well as three shipping companies belonging to the UAE and Vietnam.
