On November 22, the Specialized Criminal Court in Saudi Arabia announced the verdict in the case of "espionage groups," sentencing 17 individuals accused of spying for Israel and Western allies to death by public execution. Another man and woman were sentenced to 10 years in prison, and one more person was acquitted of the charges.
Prosecutors accuse the defendants of spying for the benefit of the US, Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the United Kingdom between 2024 and 2025. According to the court's ruling, they can appeal the verdict.
According to Al Jazeera, "Mossad" established contact with the accused, leading to strikes on a number of military and civilian facilities. As a result, dozens of people were killed and infrastructure was seriously damaged.
In 2023, after the war in Gaza intensified, the US and the UK carried out airstrikes on Houthi positions in Yemen. The Houthis, in turn, organized attacks on Israel and Red Sea transit routes in support of the Palestinians.
Despite halting attacks after an agreement, Israel carried out major airstrikes in Yemen in August, and the Houthis confirmed the death of Prime Minister Ahmad al-Rahawi.
