According to information provided by the Supreme Court press secretary, 34 citizens were held accountable under Article 111 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility (cruelty to animals) during the first six months of 2025.
Of these, 32 individuals were fined, while 2 others were punished with administrative arrest for up to 15 days.
From 2020 to 2024, 397 people were held accountable under this article: 363 were fined, and 34 were subjected to administrative arrest.
According to the legislation, intentionally inflicting suffering or torture on animals results in a fine of 3 to 5 times the minimum monthly wage.
If such actions are repeated or committed in the presence of a minor, the fine amount increases or administrative arrest is applied.
It is worth noting that since 2021, penalties for this type of offense have been strengthened. The Criminal Code also provides for criminal liability in cases where such actions lead to the death or mutilation of an animal.
Previously, when the issue of a bear kept in a cage in Bukhara attracted public attention, it was relocated to a larger area. Activists stated that the animal had been kept in uncomfortable conditions for more than 10 days.
