During his working visit to Uzbekistan, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, together with President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, visited the mausoleum of Bahauddin Naqshband.
Located 12 kilometers from Bukhara, this complex is considered one of the most important pilgrimage sites in the region. It is the burial place of Bahauddin Naqshband, a major 14th-century scholar and founder of the Naqshbandi order.
It is reported that the ensemble was formed over centuries and includes a mausoleum, a khanqah built by Abdulaziz Khan, two mosques, a dakhma (burial vault) where the amirs of the Shaybanid, Ashtarkhanid, and Manghit dynasties are buried, and a museum dedicated to the history of Sufism.
On the initiative of the President, the territory of the complex has been improved and its historical appearance restored. The path leading from the Toki Miana gate has been repaired, the surrounding area has been turned into a garden, a museum and ablution facilities have been built, and the madrasah built by Daniyalbiy is being reconstructed.
During the visit, Quranic verses were recited, and prayers were offered for the peace and prosperity of the fraternal peoples.
