Activists are protesting against the Indian Supreme Court's order to capture, sterilize, and shelter street dogs.

They argue that this measure will not solve the problem and that, instead, the government must strictly enforce existing regulations on controlling the animal population.

On August 11, the Supreme Court ordered the capture and sheltering of 5,000 dogs within six to eight weeks.

This decision was prompted by the rise in dog attack incidents in the city—nearly 2,000 dog bite cases are reported daily in New Delhi. Currently, there are approximately 1 million street dogs in the city.
