Apple Inc. in the U.S. has released a new software update to address a critical vulnerability in Mac and iPhone devices. This was reported by the "MacRumors portal."
It was announced that the iOS 18.6 and macOS Sequoia 15.6 versions, released at the end of July, have fixed a serious vulnerability labeled CVE-2025-6558. This vulnerability allowed hackers to bypass Chrome browser's security walls and execute arbitrary code.
The vulnerability also affected WebKit, the "engine" underlying the Safari browser. This could lead to system errors when processing malicious web content.
Google had already patched this vulnerability in the Chrome browser on July 15 of this year. However, because the vulnerability was deeply integrated into Apple's operating system components, a separate system update was required for iPhones and Macs.
At the moment, the technical details of this exploit have not been disclosed. The vulnerability has already been exploited in real cyberattacks, which is why Google stated that it would not disclose the details until most users had installed the "security patches."
