Yesterday, Navoi was covered in dust-like smoke. According to the information service of the Regional Ecology Department, this white smoke spread around the "Navoiyazot" JSC and BHO enterprises. Analysis revealed that the atmospheric composition exceeded the norm by 1.4 times for ammonia and 16.8 times for hydrogen sulfide was detected.
Additionally, during visual inspection, it was found that the production process at the "Navoiyazot" JSC plant released pollutants into the atmosphere.
The information service of "Navoiyazot" JSC demanded that the department refrain from making baseless accusations with false information stated. The company's specialists confirmed that no ammonia was present in the air composition during inspections that day. The thiourea workshop under the company has not been operational since February of this year. Therefore, the information about hydrogen sulfide being released into the atmosphere is completely unfounded, the report says.
Furthermore, carbon dioxide is produced due to incomplete coal combustion, but "Navoiyazot" JSC emphasized that it does not use coal at all in its production processes.
For reference, the company had previously clarified that the dust-like smoke covering Navoi originated from the western area (near Navoi International Airport) and was carried by wind direction over the plant and its surroundings before spreading across the entire city, absolving the company of any blame had reported.
