The United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) has announced the list of the most visited countries by tourists in 2024.
According to the report, the most popular destination in the world is France, with over 102 million tourists visiting the country in a year.
Paris and the cities of the Côte d'Azur are highlighted as the most visited cities.
Spain ranks second with 93.8 million visitors. However, local residents in this country have been holding protests against mass tourism. The United States takes third place with 72.4 million tourists.
Germany, meanwhile, ranks ninth among the most visited countries. The UN report notes that tourists are drawn to Germany by the diversity of its cities and historical landmarks—particularly Cologne Cathedral and Neuschwanstein Castle.
