The head of the Migration Agency Behzod Musaev and the Swedish Migration Minister Johan Forssell held a meeting dedicated to strengthening cooperation in the field of migration between Uzbekistan and Sweden.
In a constructive dialogue, the issue of preventing illegal migration, creating organized migration mechanisms that are convenient, transparent, and protective of human rights was discussed.
Today, due to demographic processes in Sweden, there is a shortage of skilled workers in the fields of transportation, construction, industry, medicine, education, and services. Uzbekistan has sufficient potential to train and introduce skilled professionals into this country's labor market.
The parties put forward the following main initiatives:
- creating a centralized digital platform between the two countries;
- starting pilot projects aimed at training highly skilled Uzbek professionals based on the demand of employers in construction, logistics, and medical services, and ensuring their employment in Sweden.
Also, within the scope of the meeting, a joint declaration on cooperation in the field of migration and labor migration was signed, which will serve to curb illegal migration, facilitate information exchange, and strengthen consular support mechanisms.
“I am fully confident that the historic document signed today will elevate Uzbekistan – Sweden relations to a new level, and is an important step for our active cooperation in the future. Although it's my first visit to your country, the rapidly developing economy, as well as the positive opportunities in all sectors, left me with very positive impressions,”
- said Swedish Migration Minister Johan Forssell.
