The Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan and the Islamic World League located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, conducted an online meeting. This was reported by the Information Service of the Islamic Civilization Center.
The meeting was attended by Nodir Turgunov, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Saudi Arabia, Firdavs Halimov, the deputy director of the Islamic Civilization Center, Davronbek Maksudov, the Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs, as well as Muhammad Abdulwahhab Ash-Shahri, the Assistant Secretary-General for Corporate Relations of the Islamic World League, Mashhur Omar Abu Shaaf, a senior scientific staff member of the Islamic World League organization, and Shakir Salah Al-Adwani, head of the conferences and events department.
- "Several meetings have been held with the Secretary-General of the Islamic World League at our embassy. As a result of these conversations, significant steps were taken to organize an official visit to the Islamic Civilization Center and to establish cooperation. In addition, projects related to organizing symposiums dedicated to the science of Hadith in Uzbekistan, encouraging local Hadith scholars, and recognizing their potential were discussed," said Ambassador Nodir Turgunov.
In turn, «There were already close relations with the Islamic World League. Meetings with representatives of this organization were held within the framework of the Bukhara declaration. Specifically, in talks with Dr. Abdulaziz Sarkhon, the issue of inviting the Secretary-General to Uzbekistan was raised. Negotiations were conducted regarding the Secretary-General's visit to the Islamic Civilization Center and the Imam Bukhari International Scientific Center, as well as his participation in the IX International Conference on Cultural Heritage expected to be held in Samarkand in August 2025,» said Davronbek Maksudov.
During the meeting, Firdavs Halimov, Deputy Director of the Islamic Civilization Center, spoke about the main directions of the center's activity.
- "The center undertakes major initiatives in international scientific cooperation, educational activities, and research of ancient Islamic heritage. The building is constructed with a unique architectural approach. Specifically, it is planned to place the Usman Mushaf – the historical Usman Quran under the dome of the center, underscoring its exceptional significance for the Islamic world heritage," said Firdavs Halimov.
The Saudi participants, including Muhammad Ash-Shahri and Dr. Shakir Al-Adwani, expressed their interest and respect for the Islamic Civilization Center in Uzbekistan, emphasizing the intent of the Islamic World League to start its first official contacts through this center. In this regard, visits and cooperation arrangements will be coordinated through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and implement international-scale projects in collaboration with scientific and spiritual centers in Uzbekistan.
