Under the new procedure developed on the initiative of the Ministry of Justice, citizens may now be able to purchase up to 500 US dollars in cash foreign currency from banks without a passport or ID card.
According to reports, the relevant document was registered with the state on May 8, 2026. The new rule will officially take effect after 3 months.
Under the current procedure, the limit for purchasing currency without identification documents is set at 100 dollars.
The new changes are expected to simplify the currency exchange process for citizens.
Additionally, the threshold at which customer verification is mandatory for transactions carried out without opening a bank account may also be changed. Currently, this threshold is equal to 500 times the base calculation value, while in the new proposal it is set as a fixed amount — 175 million soums.
