In Great Britain, the Le Breton family, who hid Uzbek soldier Boqijon Akramov from the fascists during the Second World War and saved his life, was awarded the "Do'stlik" (Friendship) Order.
According to family memories, Boqijon Akramov, called "Uncle Tom," quickly became a close person to the Le Breton family. After he escaped from a fascist concentration camp, the family hid him for nearly three years. During this time, they also placed their own and their children's lives at great risk. Akramov returned to Uzbekistan in May 1945.
During the ceremony, the daughter of the Le Breton family expressed gratitude to the President of Uzbekistan for this award. Additionally, representatives of the Jersey Heritage organization announced that, as a result of research conducted since 2022, the post-war fate of Boqijon Akramov has been determined.
