In the last seven years, the major part of the 61 trillion UZS allocated for road construction and repair has been directed towards international and republic roads. However, 75-80 percent of car accidents resulting in death occur on these roads. This was stated today, June 16, during a video conference meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, discussing the effectiveness of the reforms being implemented, the progress of work in the regions, and finding solutions to issues of concern to the population.
The public's complete dissatisfaction with the quality of public transportation and congestion was noted. Another complaint from the population is the dislocation of cameras on the roads. They only work to record violations and issue fines. It was emphasized that these cameras should actually serve to manage the flow of traffic, reduce congestion, and decrease accidents.
The sluggishness in adjusting crosswalks, lines, road signs, and transitioning to "smart" control of traffic lights was criticized.
It was pointed out that it has been quite some time since a presentation was made on regulating traffic in the capital based on artificial intelligence, but no results have been seen.
