The Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, condemned the burning of the flags of Azerbaijan and Turkey prior to a torchlight march held in relation to the event known as the «Armenian genocide». This was reported by the Prime Minister's spokesperson Baghdasaryan to the Armenpress agency here.

«Prime Minister Pashinyan considers such an action to be irresponsible and unacceptable. A head of state cannot view the burning of the flags of internationally recognized countries, especially neighboring states, in any other light. This is a provocative and inciting act», — the spokesperson said.

As a reminder, the torchlight march from Republic Square to the "Tsitsernakaberd" — the memorial for the genocide victims in the capital city of Yerevan, Armenia, began on Wednesday - April 23, before which the flags of Turkey and Azerbaijan were burned. This march is traditionally held each year on the eve of April 24 — the day commemorating the victims of the event known as the Armenian genocide.

Last month, the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, confirmed the statement previously made by the Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan, announcing that the recognition of the Armenian genocide on an international scale is not the prime direction of Yerevan's foreign policy.
