India has restarted purchasing Iranian oil at a time when the geopolitical situation in the Middle East has sharply escalated. This was announced by the Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on social media X on April 4.

Oil deliveries from Iran to India were halted in 2019 due to US sanctions. According to a Reuters report, India has not imported Iranian oil since then.

According to the Ministry, no issues related to payments have arisen under the new agreement.

The statement noted that against the backdrop of supply disruptions in the Middle East, Indian oil refineries have managed to secure sufficient quantities of raw materials, including from Iran.

Relying on data from the analytical company Bloomberg Kpler, it was reported on April 4 that the Ping Shun tanker, loaded with Iranian oil and bound for India's Vadinar port, changed its course to China due to payment-related issues.
