U.S. President Donald Trump has called for the opening of the Strait of Hormuz and issued a 48-hour ultimatum to Tehran, reports "zamon.uz".

As the President emphasized, if the strait is not fully opened within this period, the U.S. could begin strikes on Iran's energy infrastructure, including power plants. According to his words, one of the country's largest energy facilities will be targeted first. Donald Trump made this statement on his Truth Social network.

Also, earlier, Israel Katz had stated that there is a possibility the IDF and U.S. military could intensify strikes against Iran in the near future.

Prior to this, officials from 22 countries expressed their readiness to support international efforts to ensure the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz. They condemned Iran's attacks on neighboring states and announced their readiness to provide financial assistance to the countries that suffered damage.

At the same time, according to NBC News, the White House administration is also discussing the possibility of monitoring Iranian ports and deploying troops to some small islands in the Persian Gulf to ensure the safety of ships in the Hormuz area.
