In 2026, due to some public holidays coinciding with rest days, the procedure for transferring rest days for employees has been established based on legislation.
Specifically, March 21 — Nowruz and, according to probable calculations, Eid al-Fitr coinciding with this date, as well as March 8 — International Women's Day falling on a Sunday, will affect the rest days.
As is known, March 21 falls on a Saturday. According to the current labor legislation, if a non-working holiday coincides with a rest day, it is transferred to the next working day.
Based on this procedure, the rest day is moved to Monday, March 23.
For those working a 5-day week:
March 21 — holiday;
March 22 — Sunday;
March 23 — transferred rest day.
Total: 3 days of rest.
For those working a 6-day week:
March 21 — holiday;
March 22 — Sunday.
Total: 2 days of rest.
Similarly, in 2026, March 8 — International Women's Day also falls on a Sunday. Therefore, the rest day is transferred to the next working day.
For those working a 5-day week:
March 7 — Saturday rest;
March 8 — holiday;
March 9 — transferred rest day.
Total: 3 days of rest.
For those working a 6-day week:
March 8 — holiday;
March 9 — transferred rest day.
Total: 2 days of rest.
As experts emphasize, for some citizens accustomed to longer holiday breaks, this year's 2–3 day break may seem short. However, according to the current procedure, when a holiday and a rest day coincide, the rest day is transferred to the next working day. If changes are made to the legislation, additional information will be provided.
