Several university students in the Iranian capital Tehran gathered on campus on the first day of the new semester. This is reported by zamon.uz.

The students are against the country's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. Some are demanding the release of their classmates who were arrested in January.

For reference, mass protests against the government in Iran began in Tehran at the end of December. Initially economic in nature, the protests quickly took on a political character and spread throughout the country.

Iranian authorities brutally suppressed the protests. According to government data, 5,000 people were killed in the protests, while other sources say the number could reach 30,000.
