The conflict between the 64-year-old mother-in-law and the 25-year-old daughter-in-law arose over the issue of organizing a cradle celebration. When they were left alone at home, the argument escalated, and as a result, the daughter-in-law stabbed her mother-in-law 14 times.
The daughter-in-law stated during the trial and investigation that she acted in self-defense. According to her, her mother-in-law had threatened her with a knife.
"My mother-in-law came in while I was sitting in my room. She said, 'Give me your phone. I'll call my son right now and tell him you cheated, and I'll have him divorce you.' I asked, 'What did I do?' She said, 'I will kill you anyway,' and tried to stab me in the stomach with a knife. I know that I grabbed her firmly, twisted my left hand, and stabbed her once in the back," she said in court.
The court panel found the daughter-in-law guilty of intentional murder and sentenced her to 10 years of imprisonment.
