The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that members of a group that planned to kill an entrepreneur via a contract killer have been detained in the Andijan region.
On February 4, an individual engaged in private entrepreneurship appealed to the Andijan district internal affairs department with a statement about an assassination attempt being prepared against him. He reported that a group of five people had agreed to hire a killer for $1,500 to murder him and asked for help.
Following this, special rapid-response measures were carried out in the Pakhtaabad district of Andijan region in cooperation with the regional Department of Internal Affairs, the State Security Service, and the Prosecutor's Office.
It is reported that the group's leader—a 42-year-old individual nicknamed "Ronaldo"—has previously been convicted under several articles of the Criminal Code, including bodily injury, robbery, tax evasion, document forgery, drug-related crimes, and hooliganism.
He was caught red-handed while giving 300,000 soum as an initial payment from the agreed $1,500 to a 26-year-old individual, who had been convicted several times previously for fraud, theft, and hooliganism, for killing the entrepreneur.
During the rapid-response operation, the remaining members of the group were also detained. Among them are the head of the Pakhtaabad district medical association, a previously convicted individual nicknamed "Glavrach"; a citizen nicknamed "Boxer"; another 42-year-old individual; and a 23-year-old medical institute student.
A criminal case has been initiated against the group members regarding the incident under Article 97, Part 2, clause "p" (Preparation for murder and attempted murder) in conjunction with Article 25 of the Criminal Code. Investigative actions are ongoing.
