A roundtable discussion on the theme "Women's Voice in Science" was held at the Innovation Development Agency on the occasion of February 11 - the "International Day of Women and Girls in Science". It was attended by scientists, young researchers, startup founders, female students, and heads of information services of various ministries and agencies.
The meeting, held in the form of a free dialogue, discussed issues of broadly engaging women and girls in scientific activities, effectively utilizing existing grants and programs, directing research towards today's pressing problems, and widely promoting the developments and inventions being created by scientists.
Participants made proposals on strengthening cooperation among women in the field of science, expanding platforms for experience exchange, analyzing social factors hindering scientific activity and eliminating them. Furthermore, the necessity of increasing the international influence of projects being implemented by Uzbek scientists was emphasized.
At the end of the event, an initiative to establish the "Olima" (Scientist) club under the Innovation Development Agency was put forward. This club is expected to serve the purpose of creating the necessary conditions to support women and girls active in the field of science and innovation, strengthening mutual cooperation among scientists and young researchers, establishing a mentorship system, disseminating best practices, and supporting innovative ideas and initiatives.
According to experts, the "Olima" club can not only unite active women in the field of science but also become an important platform for widely demonstrating women's scientific competence in society.
