A nuclear bunker builder was arrested in Moscow.

Two scientists involved in the production of nuclear strike protection facilities in Russia have been arrested on corruption charges.

Nikolai Posokhov, head of the scientific center for improving protective measures at the All-Russian Scientific Research Institute for Civil Defense and Emergency Situations, and Igor Sosunov, deputy head of the institute, have been detained in Moscow. They are accused under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale).

During the preliminary investigation, Posokhov may be placed under house arrest, while Sosunov may be taken into custody. The accused face a potential sentence of up to 15 years of imprisonment.

As emphasized by representatives of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs, the fight against corruption is a principled position of the head of the Ministry, Alexander Kurenkov, and all illegal activities will be identified and eliminated.

The institute is engaged in scientific work in the fields of civil defense, emergency situations, and nuclear, radiological, chemical, and biological protection, and develops technical means and communication systems.
