In recent days, reports related to the Nipah virus in India have been widely discussed. In this regard, Nurmat Otabekov, First Deputy Chairman of the Sanitary-Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health Committee, stated that the likelihood of this virus spreading in Uzbekistan is very low.
He emphasized that the epidemiological situation in our country is stable and there is no cause for concern. The World Health Organization has also indicated that the Nipah virus is unlikely to lead to a global epidemic or pandemic.
It is reported that the Nipah virus is mainly transmitted by bats and pigs, and in some cases can also spread from person to person. There is currently no vaccine available against the virus, and treatment is carried out symptomatically.
At the same time, citizens planning to travel to India were advised to strictly observe personal hygiene rules, wash fruits thoroughly, and avoid drinking untreated water. Currently, epidemiological control has been strengthened at 54 border points in Uzbekistan.
