At the same time, Venezuela's leading human rights defense organization—Foro Penal—notes that only 155 political prisoners have been released so far. According to the organization's calculations, more than 700 people still remain imprisoned.

The slowness of the release process is causing discontent among the relatives of prisoners in Caracas. They are demanding that the government immediately release all political prisoners.

The process of releasing prisoners began after the ousting of Nicolás Maduro from power with U.S. assistance, and the new government had committed to this before the international community.
