The Indian government is intensifying measures to prevent the spread of the dangerous Nipah virus in the state of West Bengal. According to The Independent, five cases related to the infection have been officially confirmed so far.
It is reported that nearly a hundred people have been placed in quarantine, and the patients are being treated in hospitals in the city of Kolkata. It is noted that one patient is in serious condition.
The Nipah virus is considered a potentially fatal disease, and there is currently no cure for it. Experts emphasize that the virus can be transmitted through bats and contaminated fruits.
