In the updated military strength index compiled by Global Firepower, Uzbekistan's Armed Forces have significantly strengthened their position. In the list covering 145 states, the country rose to 53rd place, recording the highest result in Central Asia. podrobno.uz reports on this.
According to Global Firepower's 2026 ranking, Uzbekistan has risen by five positions compared to last year and has overtaken Kazakhstan, which is in 58th place.
One of Uzbekistan's key advantages highlighted in the ranking is its manpower availability. Out of a population of 36.5 million, nearly 16 million people are assessed as fit for military service. Approximately 120,000 servicemen serve in the Armed Forces, with the majority belonging to the ground forces.
The army's technical equipment also has high indicators: there are 470 tanks and 8,692 armored vehicles. In the artillery direction, 177 self-propelled artillery units are noted, placing Uzbekistan 23rd in the world by this indicator.
The military air forces possess 159 aircraft, of which 101 are helicopters. Special attention is drawn to attack aviation: 34 attack helicopters have secured Uzbekistan 20th place globally in this parameter.
