A court verdict has been announced regarding the conflict that occurred in April 2025 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. According to reports circulating in the media, at an open court session held on January 22, six citizens of Uzbekistan were sentenced to death, and one more person was sentenced to life imprisonment. To clarify this news, darakchi.uz contacted the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

"On January 21 of this year, a court sentenced eight citizens of Uzbekistan who participated in a mass brawl in the Emirates in April 2025 to life imprisonment. Also, one citizen was sentenced to 25 years of imprisonment," said the press secretary of the MFA.

We remind you that in April 2025, a bloody clash occurred between two groups of Uzbeks at one of the barbecue spots in Dubai. As a result of the conflict, one person died from a stab wound, and another received serious bodily injuries and fell into a coma. Later, the injured person in the coma also died, bringing the number of victims to two.

According to investigation data, members of two groups who had a prior disagreement accidentally encountered each other. Several people attacked a person who got out of a red Mercedes car and stabbed him; his companion tried to run away but was caught and beaten. Dubai police cordoned off the scene and, based on CCTV footage and witness statements, quickly identified the suspects and apprehended them in one of the hotels.

It was later reported that a total of 15 Uzbeks were detained in connection with this case. Dubai's Criminal Investigation Department warned that such situations could negatively impact the visa-free regime between the two countries. Subsequently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan called on citizens to refrain from actions that damage the country's reputation abroad. It was also noted that after these events, some Uzbeks faced problems entering the UAE.
