According to "Reuters", by the end of 2025, China's population reached 1.405 billion. Last year, only 7.92 million babies were born in the country, which is 17 percent less than in 2024.
At the same time, the number of deaths rose to 11.31 million, marking the highest level in recent decades.
Experts emphasize that the rapid aging of the population and the sharp decline in the birth rate are putting serious pressure on Beijing's economic plans.
Currently, people over 60 years old account for nearly 23 percent of the total population. The government plans to allocate billions of yuan in subsidies and medical expense coverage to encourage childbirth.
