"The New York Post" reports that a federal court ruling in a case related to Disney Worldwide Services Inc. and Disney Entertainment Operations LLC prohibits Disney from operating on YouTube in a manner that violates the law protecting children's online privacy.
According to the ruling, Disney is required to develop a special program to ensure future compliance with the children's privacy protection law on YouTube. It is noted that this law requires websites, applications, and other online services aimed at children under 13 to inform parents about what personal data is being collected and to obtain verified parental consent for collecting such information.
"The U.S. Department of Justice is firmly committed to ensuring parents have the right to have a say in the collection and use of their children's information," said Assistant Attorney General Brett Shumate.
