According to a study announced by Switzerland's UBS bank, the number of billionaires in the world reached 2,919 people in the one-year period up to April 2025. Their total wealth increased by 13 percent compared to the previous year, amounting to 15.8 trillion dollars.
It is reported that 91 of the new billionaires acquired their wealth through inheritance, with the amount inherited equaling 298 billion dollars. In the next 15 years, at least 5.9 trillion dollars is expected to pass from billionaires to heirs.
By region, the US maintains its lead: here, billionaire wealth reached 6.9 trillion dollars, and their number stands at 924 people. In second place is the Asia-Pacific region (4.2 trillion dollars), followed by Europe, the Middle East, and Africa (4.1 trillion dollars).
By sector, the largest growth was observed in manufacturing, where billionaire wealth increased by 27.1 percent, reaching 1.7 trillion dollars. Significant growth was also recorded in the IT, finance, and consumer goods and retail sectors.
