The US carried out its first airstrike on Venezuelan territory. US President Donald Trump announced this on December 29 before a meeting with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
According to Trump's words, the strike was delivered to a port area where narcotics are loaded onto ships. Speaking with journalists in Florida, he said there was a large explosion at the port and several ships were destroyed.
At the same time, neither US military officials nor Venezuelan officials made an official statement regarding this attack. The Central Intelligence Agency, the White House, and the Pentagon also refrained from commenting on the incident.
Meanwhile, reports spread on social networks about an explosion at a chemical plant located near the city of Maracaibo, Venezuela. However, the company explained the situation as a fire resulting from a malfunction in power lines.
According to CNN sources, in early December, the US Central Intelligence Agency conducted a drone strike on a pier used for loading narcotics on the Venezuelan coast. The report emphasizes that there were no casualties as a result of the attack.
