According to the annual report announced by UNICEF, the UN Children's Fund, nearly 417 million children worldwide are currently living below the poverty line, reports Zamon.uz publication.

Analyses note that 118 million children are deprived in three or more dimensions, while 17 million children are living deprived in four or more essential dimensions.

The report emphasizes that the lack of basic needs such as clean drinking water, preventive health care, and quality education is pushing millions of children into severe poverty. This means that one in five children in low- and middle-income countries is living in harsh conditions.

According to UNICEF data, the highest rates of child poverty are observed in the Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia regions.

At the same time, the report also noted some positive changes in the last decade: while 51 percent of children experienced at least one severe deprivation in 2013, this figure had decreased to 41 percent by 2023. UNICEF assesses this as a result of measures to strengthen child rights protection and social support.
