CNN reports that the funding bill was passed after lengthy negotiations in Congress, based on an agreement between Republicans and moderate Democrats in the Senate.

The document provides for funding the government until January, and for some agencies until the end of the 2026 fiscal year.

With the law coming into force, government employees who were left without pay during the "shutdown" returned to work and received their unpaid salaries.

At the signing ceremony, Trump called this decision a "victory over the Democrats" and accused them of "exerting pressure through blackmail."

"They didn't take the easy way out and now look very bad," Trump said.

At the same time, the Democratic Party criticized the law, emphasizing that the expiration of tax credits in the "Obamacare" program could lead to increased health insurance costs for Americans.

Speaker Mike Johnson promised that some controversial provisions would be revisited later.

For reference, a "shutdown" is considered a temporary suspension of government activities when Congress fails to pass a budget on time. During this period, many government agencies close and employees are left without pay.

The 2025 "shutdown" lasted from September 30 to November 12, a total of 43 days, making it the longest pause in US history.
