Vanderson Barros de Souza, a footballer for the Brazilian club "Araguaína", was killed by an accidental gunshot while his brother was cleaning a hunting rifle. The incident occurred at their home.

According to the publication Poder Goias, the tragedy took place on November 9 in the city of Araguaína. Preliminary information indicates that the 16-year-old brother accidentally pulled the trigger while cleaning the hunting rifle. The bullet hit Vanderson in the neck, and he died at the scene.

The police have classified the incident as an "accidental shooting" and are checking where the weapon was obtained from and whether it had a license. The footballer's brother will also be summoned for questioning in the coming days.

The "Araguaína" club issued an official statement expressing its deep condolences to the footballer's family and loved ones. According to the club's sports director, Silvanio Rodrigues Castro, Vanderson's family is in a severe state of grief, and his brother is in shock.

The city mayor's office halted all sports events on November 10 as a mark of respect for the athlete's memory. The investigation is ongoing under the article of "involuntary manslaughter".

For information, Vanderson played for the "Araguaína" U-20 team as a left-back and participated in local competitions.
