According to sources, the base in Gaza will be intended for monitoring the ceasefire regime and supporting the activities of international forces. It will be able to accommodate several thousand military personnel, and its construction cost is estimated at approximately 500 million dollars.
Reports indicate that the US and Israeli governments are actively continuing negotiations regarding the construction of the base. It is said that potential locations for the project are currently being studied. Israeli military sources have called this initiative "a new stage in US regional policy."
Journalists emphasize that the project could also cause political disputes within the US, as some Republicans oppose expanding military involvement abroad.
