According to the press secretary of the Supreme Court, Aziz Abidov, the criminal case against Yunusjon Egamberdiyev was considered by the judicial panel for criminal cases of the Supreme Court, and a verdict was issued on October 17.
The 51-year-old former judge was found guilty of the crimes provided for in Article 25 (preparation for a crime), Part 4, subparagraph "a" of Article 168 (fraud), and Part 3, subparagraph "a" of Article 211 (bribery) of the Criminal Code.
Egamberdiyev was deprived of the right to hold positions in public service for 2.5 years and sentenced to 10.5 years of imprisonment.
According to information, he was caught by law enforcement agencies while taking $30,000 from the mother of a convicted person in May of this year, after promising to reduce the prison term.
Yunusjon Egamberdiyev served as a judge of the Asaka District Court from 2013 to 2018, later worked as a lawyer, and was appointed Chairman of the Khanabad City Court in December 2024.
